Sully Antique Car Show

It was a great show with excellent weather. What a way to cap off Fathers Day. The Sno*Cone booth ran out of water so you know it was a hot day. But it seemed that people really enjoyed the activites and the cars. A few pictures:

October 23, 2016 Thomas and Gayle Delashmutt, the proprietors of Oak Hill - the Presidential Estate of James Monroe in Aldie, VA - have invited the members of both the George Washington Model 'A' Club and the Greater Baltimore Club to host a joint fall picnic on the estate grounds and to participate in a private tour of the mansion and its gardens. Oak Hill was commenced in 1820 by James Monroe during his second term in office on 2,000 acres which he inherited from his uncle in 1808. It was designed by James Hoban, architect for the White House. Architectural advice and input came from his friend Thomas Jefferson and the mansion incorporates marble pieces sent from France by the Marquis de Lafayette in thanks for Monroe's effort's to protect his wife during the French revolution. Oak Hill is the only presidential estate of the Revolutionary Era still in private hands, was left largely untouched by occupying troops during the Civil War and is rarely open to the public. The picnic and entertainment will be hosted by the George Washington Chapter at the superintendent's house on the estate with walks through the gardens and mansion from there. Date is Sunday, October 23rd, with a rain date of Sunday October 30th . More to follow on this at the end of the summer, but mark your calendars now!
